8 - Is this a moderated Chat Server?

Well, yes and no. In the true sense of the word ‘moderated’ each text line would be check by a moderator , if no words are found in the submitted text line that are banned list, the operator will allow the text line to be shown. However, we use a profanity filter which checks each word in the submitted text line against this list and this is done automatically. If a word is found to be in the profanity list, the word is replaced with a string of # characters and inserted into the text line.

Irrespective whether a word is found or not, all text chats are recorded in session files and these are tagged to the users accounts. All conversations are logged and as such if an issue is reported we can investigate using these log files. Random checks are done on log files to see if any words that should not be used and if so these are added to the profanity filter. We will also get in touch with the user concerned and make them aware not to use the offending word or words again.

If offenses keep occurring we will ban users!
